HOW TO: Open ports on RHEL or OEL
This blog guides you through the the steps that you need to take to open RHEL firewall ports.
This procedure applies to opening ports in the Linux iptables, which is relatively simple.
Daniel-Redfern-MacBook-Pro:~ danielredfern$ telnet 172.16.101.253 8453 Trying 172.16.101.253... Connected to 172.16.101.253. Escape character is '^]'. Connection closed by foreign host. Daniel-Redfern-MacBook-Pro:~ danielredfern$Open a terminal window (Located within the 'Application' -- 'System Tools'). Once you have a terminal open, you have to obtain root access to change firewall settings. Do this by typing:
suYou will need to enter in the root password In the following examples, substitute the port # you want to open for the 12345 in the command. If you want to open an incoming TCP port, type the following:
iptables -I INPUT -p tcp --dport 8453 --syn -j ACCEPTYou will then need to save the changes by entering the service iptables save command
[root@localhost oracle]# service iptables save iptables: Saving firewall rules to /etc/sysconfig/iptables:[ OK ] [root@localhost oracle]#After you are done opening ports in your firewall, you can save your changes so they will be applied when you restart your computer by typing the following command: service iptables save

For what I see, there's not too many supportive documentations out there that will demonstrate how provision AD group membership with the ICF connector using OpenIDM. The use of the special ldapGroups attribute is not explained anywhere in the Integrators guides to to the date of this blog. This quick blog identifies the tasks required to provision AD group membership from OpenIDM to AD using the LDAP ICF connector. However this doesn't really explain what ldapGroups actually does and there's no real worked example of how to go from an Assignment to ldapGroups to an assigned group in AD. I wrote up a wiki article for my own reference: AD group memberships automatically to users This is just my view, others may disagree, but I think the implementation experience could be improved with some more documentation and a more detailed example here.
