Next, select 'Oracle Identity Manager - 11.1.1.3.0 [Oracle_IDM1]'. This will also select the other components required to run OIM successfully. Click 'next'
Enter in the domain name and the location. In the example I have altered the Domain name though kept the locations to default. Click 'next'.
Enter in the Admin server credentials which will be created to allow you to log in. Click 'next'.
Select the SDK you desire. I have selected 1.6.0_24 though I believe for OIM you are required to use 1.6.0_20 and above. Click 'next'.
Enter in the 'DBMS/Service','Host Name', 'Port', 'Schema Owner' and 'Schema.
Weblogic will then use pre-defined DML scripts to determine if the credentials you have entered are correct. Once you have green ticks for all them, click 'next'.
No option was selected here. Click 'next'.
Quick summary before creating . Click 'next'.
When the progress is 100% successful with no errors, you can then test the WLS admin server is working to expectation by going to the admin server direcotry (mine is... '/home/oracle/Oracle/Middleware/user_projects/domains/11115_basedomain') and execute the following command to start up weblogic:
./startWeblogic.sh
Once you have acknowledgement that that the admin server is running, go to a web interface and type the hostname and port number you used within the configuration. (Mine would be: 'http://localhost.localdomain:7001')

The use of the special ldapGroups attribute is not explained anywhere in the Integrators guides to to the date of this blog. However this doesn't really explain what ldapGroups actually does and there's no real worked example of how to go from an Assignment to ldapGroups to an assigned group in AD. I wrote up a wiki article for my own reference: AD group memberships automatically to users This is just my view, others may disagree, but I think the implementation experience could be improved with some more documentation and a more detailed example here.
